Educational Leadership
Leadership in school demands high levels of energy and commitment but it also requires a breadth and depth of thought and presence that only comes from a clearer, quieter mind. As the level of challenge increases, and the days get busier and more demanding, so does the importance of maintaining a clarity of mind, and avoiding becoming burdened, stressed or overwhelmed.
My work with leaders explores our potential to be inspired and thrive, even in the face of extreme challenge and demand. Leaders develop a deeper understanding of how we work, and what it looks like when we become 'caught up'. Leaders will reflect on what it looks and feels like when they are truly at their best, with a clear, unburdened mind. They will develop key insights into the exciting capacity they posses, and the profound impact they are able to have on others when they are in their best state.
Leaders will explore how easily their thinking can become contaminated, and learn to recognise their own personal signals, and how they can negotiate difficult moments more easily and gently, without a lasting impact on their wellbeing and clarity of mind.
Leaders will be led through a practical exploration of their own leadership experiences, reflecting on where they can see the impact of this learning. By unpicking experiences, and sharing insights, leaders are guided in developing their own personal insights and learning that can serve as a practical guide in their role. These include
-
Having a greater appreciation of the quality, breadth and depth of thinking that is available to them at any given moment, when they are able to have a clearer mind
-
The nature of their thoughts and how to negotiate fearful, insecure thinking to minimise the impact on them and their work, and return more quickly to a clear and uncontaminated state of mind
-
How these insights can offer a practical insights into how to get the best out of those that they lead and work with.
Leaders will not be required to ‘do more’ to benefit from this work. By seeing more and understanding more, leaders will start recognising it play out in their work and their own experiences. Leaders will find they begin to negotiate the challenges of their role with greater ease, intuitively, without the weight of pressure, or anxious thinking, and as a result will experience a greater levels of insight and creativity in their work. By exploring their new understanding practically in their role, leaders will often develop deeper insights that strengthen their understanding and increase the impact on them and their work.
Leadership Programmes and one to one Support
I have a number of leadership programmes, including work with senior leadership teams, middle leadership teams or headteachers across a Trust. Programmes can be tailored to focus on specific areas, such as; team alignment, communication, strategic planning, leading others, managing workload, listening, public speaking, and difficult conversations.
Programs can be structured to fit with your training and meeting schedules or CPDL and school calendars. It is useful to integrate some one to one session between group sessions to accelerate learning for individuals and across a group where possible.
I also work on a one to one basis with leaders and headteachers wishing to take their leadership to the next level. This takes a coaching format, with regular meetings that guide leaders in a personalised exploration, using their own experience as the content to explore and deepen their understanding . This allows leaders to develop new insights and understandings that have a longer term impact on their capabilities and leadership.
I always start by listening to you, to establish a shared understanding of what will be of most benefit to you and your team. If you are interested in finding out more or would like to discuss options, please contact me.
