Young People / Students

When a young person has a clear, uncluttered mind, and full access to their capabilities, they are deeply resourceful and have everything they need to be happy and successful. Imagine if every young person knew this.

When young people are able to access their true capability, they bring enthusiasm, creativity, energy and wisdom in abundance. They show they are capable of overcoming significant challenges and achieving great things even when faced with significant challenges. However, self doubt and insecure thinking can be compelling, and this can lead to some barriers looking unmanageable and overwhelming. This is where young people can get stuck. This can be worrying and disconcerting for those around the young person, as well as the young person themselves.

My work with young people allows them to challenge the limitations they perceive in themselves, to explore the nature of insecure thinking and develop a deeper understanding of their true potential. This allows them to have new, fresh ideas and thoughts around the challenges and barriers that they have been facing. As a result they are able to make progress in areas they have previously felt 'stuck' such as social anxiety, attendance at school, exam pressure, and issues around anger or behaviour.

Working with groups of young people around issues that they are experiencing like exam stress, social anxieties, school avoidance and low self esteem,  young people are guided through an exploration of how we work. We gently explore our own experiences, building an understanding of how we are affected by our own thinking. We use models to visualise the way in which thought can build up and create feelings that affect the clarity of our judgement and the reliability of our thinking.

Young people are given the chance to explore this new understanding in real time, in their own lives. This is where they begin to see evidence of it for themselves and further sessions give individuals and groups the chance to reflect and strengthen their understanding. The moment a young person sees the space between their thoughts and themselves, they are able to begin to explore the freedom available to them to have a full range of good feelings and  a sense of wellbeing  regardless of the circumstance or the thoughts that appear to them.

I work with young people in groups or individually, focused on specific barriers and challenges that they are facing  such as exam pressure, social anxiety, attendance issues, academic engagement and progress, and issues around anger and behaviour. I also run programs linked to school leadership that develop excellence in leadership, public speaking, interview performance and listening skills.

If you are a school who would like to explore a program for your students, or an individual that is interested please contact me for further discussions on what this coudl look liek and how it can help the young people you care for.
