Parents / Carers / Family

As parents and carers we are doing our best to help our children be happy and successful. We want our children to be able to be resilient and resourceful, to be able to overcome barriers and negotiate challenges they encounter. With a deeper understanding of how our children can achieve all this, we can support them with  confidence and  belief in them and their capability.

My work with parents explores the nature of our worried and fearful thinking about our children. We explore a deeper understanding of our own capacity to see beyond this thinking and to realise our capacity to be calm and clear in any given moment, to have access to our greater wisdom and creativity  and to remain connected with our deep love and care for our children, even in the face of our own worries, their current state or the behaviour they are exhibiting.

We want the best for our children, but knowing how to support  our child can be complex and challenging at times. It can feel like a minefield, especially when they are facing significant challenges, upset and distress. Finding the right balance between caring for their emotional needs, while also helping them to be strong and resilient can be a difficult path to negotiate. As a parent or carer, especially when we are faced with challenging times, developing a deeper understanding of how we are affected by our own thoughts, and where to look to access our full capability is invaluable.

Working with parents we look at  how our state and clarity of mind can be so easily and dramatically affected by issues surrounding our children. We explore  the role that fearful insecure thinking has on us and the extreme differences we see in our capacity to guide and parent our children depending on our state of mind.

Through reflection on our experiences and sharing insights, we are able identify times we have been caught thinking that has limited our capacity to help our child. We explore where we can look for a more reliable guide that we all have access to, that is more informed, more creative and more insightful.

We look at times when we have made use of this guide and times when it has not seemed available to us, and reflect on the impact this has had on our parenting.. It is important for all parents to know, and to share experiences, of how easily we can be compelled by our fearful thinking, much to the detriment of our capacity to find solutions and be the parent that we truly can be.

Parents are guided to develop a sense of how to negotiate strong thoughts and feeling, to bring a clearer mind to their parenting, one that is energised with greater levels of hope and belief in their child no matter what challenges their child is facing. .

I run parenting forums and work with parents, carers and families in groups or individually to enable parents and carers to negotiate the challenges of supporting their child in overcoming barriers and being happy and successful. I give parents and carers key insights into how their child works and where to look for inspiration in themselves when they feel stuck or when they are looking to guide their child towards their true potential.

If you are a school who would like to explore putting on a program of support fro your parents, a parenting group or an individual parent who would like to seek help, please contact me to see how we could work together.
