Teachers and those working with young people.

Working with young people is a rich and varied experience that, when we are in a clear state, we are able to embrace and enjoy, connecting with the young people we work with and having great impact on them through our work.

My work with teachers explores how this is always available to us, no matter what the perceived barriers or challenges, either for ourselves or for the young people we are working with.

True wellbeing is not about escaping our work with young people, it is about thriving in that work, and for our work with young people to be a healthy and enjoyable part of our lives.

Working in school and working with young people can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be very complex demanding, and at times overwhelming. Teachers wellbeing is a very real issue and teachers (and other professional working with young people) need support to ensure that they are able to spend more time enjoying their role, feeling they are making a difference, and being inspired by their work instead of  feeling burdened, frustrated, anxious and under-appreciated.

Programmes allow for teachers to reflect on their experiences with a particular focus on the barriers and challenges that appear to limit their enjoyment,  sap energy and often leave them feeling anxious, frustrated and overwhelmed. We take time to identify where we would like to experience something different  and agree key success criteria for individuals or for the group.

We will then explore in greater depth the wonderful capacity we have when we have a clear mind and we are in an unburdened state. Teachers reflect on the feelings this brings, the levels of energy and motivation they naturally have, how intuitively they connect with young people, resolve issues effortlessly and inspire the young people they work with.

We explore how our clarity of mind can easily become contaminated and burdened and develop a understanding of what is really happening at these times, what it feels and looks like and how we can negotiate these moments with greater ease, maximising the time we are in a clear and unburdened state.

We will use ongoing reflections on our experiences, sharing insights that appear throughout the programme to deepen our understanding and develop our appreciation of the significance of this understanding in so many areas of our lives. Teachers will develop their own insights, that provide a practical understanding to support them in all aspects of their role.

I have programs specifically focused on wellbeing, performance and early career development, but we can develop a bespoke program specifically for the needs of your staff, either as individuals or groups. Where I work with groups of teachers I have found additional one to one coaching, that is built into the program, accelerates progress, developing and strengthening a deeper understanding for individuals and the group.

I provide presentations, CPD training, bespoke programs and individual coaching and mentoring for teachers and other professionals that  support young people, ranging from one-off presentations that introduce professionals to the ideas behind the work and develop a curiosity to look in this direction, to intensive programmes that create lasting change for those who take part.

If you are interested in finding out more, I am happy to discuss your needs and what it could look like for you and your staff.  Programs can be built around your CPD calendar and meeting schedules to best fit your school. To discuss how this work might help at your school, please contact me.
